A DESERT GARDEN

A quick trip to the Oliver Lee State Park Visitor's Center (just at the edge of the campground) led us to hike the .5 mile Riparian Nature Trail that goes near the Center. It was a lovely trail, well-signed and interesting. Best of all, it ended at the short, but sweet, Desert Garden. We've seen many of these little desert gardens, but (possibly because it's Spring and more things are blooming) this one is definitely the best! Tomorrow we will hike the strenuous "Dog Canyon Trail" - at least as far as we can make it!

After our short hikes, we headed for town to do some laundry. I was wearing my "laundry day with" outfit - as opposed to my "laundry day without" outfit, which is the same, except that it occurs when I'm even out of underwear. Okay, that's probably TMI.

If you aren't interested in flowers, you can stop here. What follows are some of the plants we saw in the Desert Garden, mostly cactus.
These were along the creek, as we hiked the Riparian Nature Trail
They seem to be some sort of Columbine, but wild
The rest of these are from the Desert Garden:
