BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN

Returning from a brief blogging hiatus, but not a hiatus from Full Time Chinooking! We left Washington after saying goodbye to our college freshman son (all cozy in his dorm room at The Evergreen State College in Olympia), and we high-tailed it down to California. We stopped at an excellent campground at Champoeg State Park in Oregon (clean, well-designed, super-hot showers! We'll be going back) and then at Valley of the Rogue campground in Rogue River, Oregon (cheap laundry facilities!) and then made it back to our old stomping grounds: Nevada City, CA.  We ended up staying a little longer than expected, but made several upgrades to our Chinook experience (including adding solar panels and window gutters, and finding the junk at the bottom of the closet that we stuffed down there because we didn't need it). We're now back on the road, and our first overnight stop was at a TA center (truck stop), where we slept (using this word very loosely) to the charming chirp of trucks backing up and the lulling hum of constant traffic on I-5. Now we've arrived (last night) at Anza-Borrego State Park in Borrego Springs, CA., where we'll stay for 5 or 6 days. It's beautiful here and the nights are quiet and still and dark as pitch! We'll be doing some hiking in the perfect 85 degree weather, as well as drying our towels and storing away our heater (finally!).  Note the sunshine in the top photo! Bottom photos show how our cat is adapting to road life. He's a mean cat. But he seems to be adjusting. That's his happy face. Really.
